There were two small lamps in the train but because everyone left their windows open so every time the train entered a tunnel it got very smoky. I could stand it if there were just three or four tunnels but there were 40! I couldn't stand it. We crossed over river after river on steel bridges and I saw the damage from the storm. Eventually Mount Hiei came into sight and I saw the shores of the lake. When I arrived in Kyoto I felt nostalgic. When we left Kyoto Station it was under construction.
